AEN: Daily energy, power and infrastructure intelligence across Africa
About us
Africa's energy intelligence platform
Africa Energy Network is the continent's dedicated news, data and business directory platform for the power, energy and infrastructure industries — published in English with French translation.

Who we are

Africa Energy Network is an independent digital media and intelligence platform covering energy, power and infrastructure across all 54 African markets. We publish daily news, analysis and intelligence for IPPs, EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, project financiers, energy lawyers, government utilities, regulators and the development finance institutions that shape the continent's energy future.

We are editorially independent — our coverage is driven by what matters to the industry, not by advertisers or sponsors. Our site is published in English as the primary language with French translation, reflecting the dual-language reality of African energy markets.

What we publish

Our editorial output covers the full energy value chain: solar and renewables, oil and gas, hydropower, power infrastructure and transmission, energy finance and investment, technology and equipment, and policy and regulation. We publish across 7 core categories:

  • Solar & Renewables — utility-scale, C&I, off-grid, wind, storage
  • Oil & Gas — upstream, LNG, downstream, pipelines
  • Hydropower — large hydro, run-of-river, rehabilitation
  • Power Infrastructure — transmission, power pools, interconnection
  • Energy Finance — project finance, DFIs, private equity, M&A
  • Technology & Equipment — BESS, smart grid, EV, digitisation
  • Policy & Regulation — legislation, IPP frameworks, tariffs

In addition to daily news, we operate a searchable company directory of energy businesses operating across Africa, an events calendar for the industry, and publish press releases from verified directory members.

Editorial policy

Africa Energy Network operates under a strict separation between editorial content and commercial relationships. Our journalists and editors make all editorial decisions independently. No advertiser, directory listing client or press release customer has any influence over editorial coverage, story selection, tone or accuracy.

Accuracy first
We verify facts before publication. Where information cannot be independently verified, we say so. Corrections are published promptly and transparently when errors occur.
Independence
Our newsroom operates independently of our commercial team. Advertisers, sponsors and directory clients do not influence editorial decisions, coverage or tone.
Africa focus
We cover African energy from an African perspective — not as an afterthought to global coverage. Our platform is built specifically for the continent's energy professionals.
Transparency
Sponsored content and press releases are clearly labelled. We do not publish paid editorial disguised as news. Our revenue model is disclosed: advertising, directory listings and press releases.

Advertising & commercial

Africa Energy Network is funded through banner advertising, sponsored content, directory listing fees and press release publication fees. Our advertising inventory covers the homepage, category pages, article pages, directory pages and company profiles. We do not accept advertising for products or services that conflict with our editorial values.
